Adobe Illustrator CC – Essentials Training Course

This course created by Dan. He is an designer, Adobe Certified Instructor & Adobe Certified Expert.

Together we’re going to learn how to use Adobe Illustrator. During our course we won’t just learn how to use the tools… we will create real world, practical projects together.

This course is aimed at people new to Illustrator & design in general. We’ll start right at the beginning, working our way through step by step.

We’ll start with the techniques you’ll need to create just about everything in Illustrator. Including icons, logos, postcards & hand drawn illustrations.

We’ll explore lines & brushes. You’ll master how to use and manipulate type. I’ll show you the clever secrets Illustrator has which will help you to discover & use beautiful color like a pro.

You’ll learn how to push, pull, cut & repeat artwork. You’ll learn how to redraw real world examples of famous logos. We’ll cover the essentials like correct saving & exporting along with so, so much more.

If you’ve never opened Illustrator before, or you’ve opened it and struggled, come with me, I’ll show you the easy way to make beautiful artwork.

In the end of this class, you’ll lean

Project 1: Simple Shaped Animal

For this project you are to create an animal using on simple shapes & lines in Illustrator. The tools used are the ones mentioned in video 04 of the series.

Project 2: The Ugly Duckling

In this project, you are to redraw & color the swan using the shape builder tool. Techniques for this course can be found in the 05 video.

Project 3: Redrawing the owl

In this project you are to finish the 4th drawing from video 08 in the series – the owl. You’re required to use the curvature tool. Give the owl some color and post your project.

Project 4: Freehand Drawing & Brushes

Using the file Drawing 2.jpg from the exercise files your goal is to create hand drawn magic. You can use a mixture of the brush and stroke techniques learnt in video 11.

Project 5: Love redraw

Using the width tool, you have to complete the Love lettering we started in video 12 of the series.

Project 6: Badge for Pet Obesity Prevention

This project is to create your own badge using your own text or the text supplied in ‘Type on a path exercise.txt’ of your exercise files. You’ll use the type on the path techniques as learnt in video 14.

Project 7: Flowers

In this project, I want you to start with your very own shape & colors. Then scale, spin & repeat you’re way to amazingness! You can check out video 25 in the series for specific details on how to do this.

Project 8: Patterns

Pattern time! Take your own drawing and create a repeating ‘wallpaper’ style pattern. For more information on how to do this, see video 26 in the series.
